Most MFA programs require 48 credits or as few as 36 credits, but the Columbia Writing Program considers the study of literature from the practitioner's point of view—reading as a writer—essential to a writer's education. Writing Program classes are intended for MFA candidates.
Can an applicant enroll in Columbia University School of the Arts just to take courses? Official transcripts are only required after an applicant has been admitted to the School of the Arts, and must be received by June 30th. No more than two double-spaced pages. Students can select courses in order to fulfill the following major requirements.
